The Bold & Beautiful... Fiddle Fig

The Bold & Beautiful... Fiddle Fig

It's no surprise this plant is currently the "it" thing to have in your home or workplace. It's prominent green leaves and overwhelming presence in a space has made it a must have for everyone, green thumb or not! Whilst this plant boasts amazing features, we know they can sometimes be a bit of a challenge to keep alive.

    Fiddle Fig Plant

We have a few facts and tips to help you love the plant that will love you back. The fiddle fig (Ficus Lyrata) is native to Africa, living amongst the amazing jungles and rainforests. Usually boasting heights of over 12 metres, most of the leaves are submerged under the shade of the surrounding trees, with only filtered light trickling in. Because of this, we recommend keeping your fiddle fig in bright, indirect light, allowing the fiddle to feed off the light without the leaves burning. The African jungle thrives off humidity, so the next step is making sure you recreate it's environment at home, this bit is so easy but requires a bit of dedication from yourself. Fiddle fig plants will drink through their leaves, so every few days give them a good mist with a spray bottle, as well as the top of their soil. This will help create the humidity they thrive on. Our last tip is to give them a big drink once every one-two weeks. Place them under the shower or hose and allow both their leaves and soil to get a good dose of H2O. Let the water completely drain and place it back in it's bright spot!

     Fiddle Fig Styled

If you want one of these plant babies to love and nurture, come in store and check them out for yourself. We currently have fiddle fig's over 1m tall, RRP $250. We're happy to help you out with styling your fun new plant too! See you soon.
