Ever find yourself scrolling endlessly through Pinterest and pinning all your dreams to a board, then wondering “Where do I start?”
We all want that perfectly styled home, but we also need to live in them at the same time. I have helped many people organise and style their areas with these simple tips:
Choose a simple theme in a neutral colour for your storage. This helps hide away your clutter. Remember we still need to live in our spaces. For example, you may use your dining table as your home office. If you are tired of looking at those cords and papers, then we suggest finding a spot close by, like a console that you can store some baskets on. Try baskets made of seagrass or rope to hide your items in when you’re not using them. These baskets are very popular in interiors as they add texture and a “handmade” element to your home.

Remove all the clutter and select only the pieces you really LOVE and that add value to your life. The rest can either be donated, sold for some extra cash! Or stored away for keeps. Create cute visuals with your selected pieces. To create the perfect vignette, opt for different heights, different textures like flowers, something metal and a candle for example. Arrange in small groups of 3’s or odd numbers. Books stacked on top of each other can also give height to an object. Select similar colours and sized books for this to work best. Or try grouping your décor pieces on a bamboo or brass serving tray.
There are some great indoor plants, small and large, that are low maintenance. You can read my past blog of “How to Grow an Indoor Oasis”. Plants can bring that beautiful pop of contrast for your home. They can also help to reduce stress and create a feeling of well-being. Another way is fresh flowers, I am loving fresh cut Australian Natives and Gum. They last a while and look beautiful in simple oversized vases.

HYGGE YOUR HOME
An increasingly popular term being used in interiors. A Danish word, of creating cosy and convivial atmospheres that promote wellbeing. Ways to do this is adding layers of comfort, by using textured throws, extra cushions, candles, artworks, plants etc. It is important to remember when adding layers, is choosing a cohesive colour palette. The best tones to use are neutral and items with lots of textures. Ie. Knits, woven baskets, linen, wool, rattan, macramé, etc.

STATEMENT WALL ART
There are two ways that I like to display art in the home. One is to choose a large statement piece and showcase it, or choose a variety of smaller artworks with a similar theme and create a gallery style feature. What we are loving right now, are these digitally printed fabric tapestries. Create the ultimate bed head, use to zone a relaxing reading nook or kids retreat.
